Active Archive Installation

This section gives a general overview of the installation and configuration of the Archiving Server system process on an Application Server.

Process Flow

  1. You download and install the scheduler-<version>-archive-win.exe.
  2. You configure the database.
  3. You configure Archiving Server to use the database and LDAP server.
  4. You request and install a license for Archiving Server.
  5. You configure Redwood Server to archive chains and processes to the Active Archive.

Prerequisites

Active Archive license key

  • Archive server needs to have the same or greater major version number as Redwood Server
  • A supported OS:
    • Microsoft Windows 2008 Server or higher, with the latest Service Packs
    • GNU/Linux, with a support contract from the vendor
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 to 2017 or Oracle 11.2 to 18.3
  • Oracle J2SE SDK 1.5 and 1.6
  • Active Directory or other LDAPv3 compliant Directory Service
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x (or greater) or Mozilla.org Firefox 2.0.0.20 (or greater) on any native platform (JavaScript required)
tip

You can have Redwood Server and Active Archive share the same database instance, but avoid using the same schema (Oracle) or database (SQL Server).

tip

Although you can install Active Archive on the same server where Redwood Server is running, it defeats the main purpose of Archiving Server, which is to offload the server running Redwood Server.

Procedure

  1. Configuring the Active Archive Database.
  2. Download and Extract scheduler--archive-win.exe.
  3. Configuring Archiving Server.
  4. Configure Redwood Server for Archiving.
