on-site finance-related topic Technical Requirements

Prerequisites

The user that deploys the Redwood Finance Automation CAR file needs to have the following roles:

  • scheduler-administrator

The application server must dispose of a library to connect to the remote systems:

  • JCo 3.1 Java library for SAP ECC connectivity (FPA and FCc scenarios)
    • SAP Note 1456826 - The jco.use_repository_roundtrip_optimization property defaults to 1 with JCo 3.1, its default is 0 with JCo 3.0, hence if you are upgrading, RFC_METADATA_GET authorizations are now mandatory.
  • Oracle JDBC driver for the underlying Oracle database (Oracle EBS scenario).

Checking Hardware and Software Requirements

The following table lists the requirements.

The installation host for the central Redwood Finance Automation server system must meet the following requirements:

Hardware Requirements

Requirement TypeRequirement
CPU2 x 2.0 Ghz Intel processors or equivalent
Memory4GB or more
Disk space400 GB - This figure assumes history data for 10 million processes with an average output size of 10 KB. The actual disk space requirements may vary depending on the number of processes and the size of their output.

Because of the number of different permutations of operating system environments possible when using a virtualized environment (such as VMware), Redwood Software cannot guarantee that running Redwood Finance Automation in such an environment will deliver optimum reliability or performance. If problems are experienced when running Redwood Finance Automation in a virtualized environment, Redwood Software support will use best endeavors to re-create and help resolve the problem. In some situations Redwood Software may require the customer to demonstrate that the same issue will occur while running Redwood Finance Automation in a native (non-virtualized) instance of the same operating system environment.

System Requirements

Requirement TypeRequirement
Database requirementsOracle (XE, 10g or higher), IBM DB2 (9.1 or higher), SQL Server (2012 SP3 or higher), PostgreSQL (9.3 or higher), SAP HANA (non-BTP) version 2.0 or later
Redwood PlatformJava 11 or 17 (recommended) JVM that is supported by the vendor (Eclipse Adoptium Temurin, IBM Semeru, Oracle)

See the Database Prerequisites topic for database-specific configuration.

Platform Agent Requirements

  • Supported UNIX 1 or HP OpenVMS Server
  • Microsoft Windows Servers:
    • Windows 2008, 2012, 2012 R2, 10, or 2016 (x86 32-bit agent, can run 64-bit Windows programs)
  • IBM AS/400 V4R3 or higher, JTOpen 4.5 or higher 2

Best Practices

Great care needs to be taken when you choose the user (subject) that deploys the Redwood Finance Automation CAR file. The subject used should be a technical user, must be granted the two roles mentioned in the Prerequisites section above and retain these grants. It is not recommended to switch subject; once a subject has been used to deploy the Redwood Finance Automation CAR file, that subject must be used for any subsequent deployments on a given system.

Footnotes

1: Some older Linux distributions can potentially be supported, please contact Redwood Software Support Services for more information.
2: JTOpen 4.5 is shipped with the AS/400 connector.
