Controlling Communication Channels with Redwood Server via PI/XI

You configure Redwood Server to control communication channels by creating a user in the NetWeaver AS JAVA with the required authorizations and use this user in Redwood Server to connect to the SAP instance via the PI interface.

When you create or edit an SAP System, the required services are added automatically to the process server, so there is no need to change services on a process server.

Prerequisites

  • You switched to external control in the Communication Channel Monitor.
  • You created a user in NetWeaver, in Visual Administrator for example, and assigned the xi_af_channel_admin_display and xi_af_channel_admin_modify roles to the sap.com/com.sap.aii.af.app*AdapterFramework application for the user. You can also perform this in SAP NetWeaver Administrator with the quick link /nwa/identity, depending on your SAP NetWeaver release.

Procedure

Configure Redwood Server to control the communication channels:

  1. Navigate to "Environment > SAP".
  2. Choose Edit from the context-menu of the SAP System.
  3. On the J2EE tab, select PI and enter the username and password of the user you created previously in SAP NetWeaver.
  4. Choose Save & Close.
  5. Navigate to "Environment > Process Servers" and restart the process server belonging to the SAP instance.
