on-site-related topic Installation

This section gives a general overview of the installation and configuration of the central Redwood Server system process on an Application Server on Windows and UNIX.

Process Flow

  1. You download and extract the redwood-platform-9_2_10_<n>.zip.
  2. You install the database.
  3. You prepare a DataRootDirectory outside of the installation directory, ideally on a SAN.
  4. You request and install a license for Redwood Server.
  5. You submit System_SetSystemDataRootDirectory specifying the full path to the DataRootDirectory. See Submitting a process or chain for more information on submitting a process.
note

The specific steps for assigning administrative privileges vary for application servers and are not presented here in detail.

Prerequisites

  • Installed and configured Java Development Kit (JDK), which should ideally be the latest version shipped by the platform vendor (it must be supported).
  • Installed and configured Server
  • Administrator credentials
  • (optional) If TCMalloc tcmalloc is installed, it will be used for memory allocation; this is recommended for systems under heavy load.
