Choose Your Installation Hosts

When you plan the installation of Redwood Server, bear the following in mind:

You can control workload on SAP systems in both the ABAP stack. Also, if you wish to install platform agents on remote systems (UNIX, Windows, or VMS), the remote system must adhere to the specifications described below.

Supported JEE Application Servers

  • Redwood Platform
    • 0.5Gb disk space

Supported Databases

  • DB2 versions 10.5 to 11.5.
    • Linux/UNIX/Windows DB2
    • 1Gb disk space with additional space for data
    • pagesize of at least 16kb and a buffer pool of 16kb (SAPINST already provides for supported database parameter values)
    • Requires user with administrator privileges to install
  • Oracle versions 11.2 to 19c
    • 1Gb disk space with additional space for data
    • Requires user with administrator privileges to install
  • Microsoft SQL Server versions 2012 SP3 to 2019
    • 1.5Gb disk space with additional space for data
    • Requires user with administrator privileges to install
  • PostgreSQL versions 9.6 to 12.3

Supported Remote SAP Systems AS ABAP or AS ABAP+Java.

XBP is used to schedule CCMS jobs, among other things.

Some functionality is only supported with newer versions of SAP, specifically Redwood Server supports the following versions of XBP as of the following releases:

  • XBP 0.1 - 3.1i
  • XBP 1.0 - 4.0, 4.5, 4.6
  • XBP 2.0 - 4.6, 6.10, 6.20, 6.40, 7.0 (some versions require specific SP's, see table below)
  • XBP 3.0 - 7.0 (with SP13 or later), 7.1 or later

The BC-XBP release that is available depends on both the SAP Basis (Web Application Server) release and the Support Package level. BC-XBP 2.0 is available for all SAP Web AS Basis releases that were actively supported by SAP in early 2004. It has been ported to all releases older than 6.30 by means of Support Packages (see SAP Note 604496). BC-XBP 3.0 is supported as of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SP13 or higher.

SAP has fixed several issues relating to BC-XBP 2.0 in later Support Packages. Redwood therefore recommends using the Support Package of at least the Redwood recommended SP in the table below.

ReleaseMinimum SPRedwood recommended SP
4.6BSAPKB46B56SAPKB46B56 and SAPKH46B60
4.6CSAPKB46C41SAPKB46C46
4.6DSAPKB46D35SAPKB46D35
6.10SAPKB61027SAPKB61038
6.20SAPKB62017SAPKB62033
note

To get a consistent experience across your system landscape, you should keep keep the same SP-levels for a specific version across the system landscape.

Supported SAP BusinessObjects Systems

  • SAP BusinessObjects XI 3.0, 4.0 patch 14
  • SAP BusinessObjects Data Services 4.0 patch 2.1

Report types: Crystal Reports, Webi, Excel.

Other Supported SAP Platforms

  • SAP S4/HANA BTP and non-BTP
  • SAP BW 3.5 and later for scheduling process chains and infopackages
  • SAP ISU 4.6.3 and later for scheduling mass activities

Redwood also ships transports which implement advanced scheduling functionality.

note

In AS ABAP+Java systems prior to 7.10 you can execute jobs only in AS ABAP.

Microsoft Windows, HP OpenVMS, UNIX Servers for Platform Agents

  • Supported UNIX and HP OpenVMS Servers 1 2
  • Microsoft Windows Servers:
    • Windows 2008, 2012, 2012 R2, 10, 2016, or 2019 (x86 32-bit agent, can run 64-bit Windows programs)
note

Installing and using Redwood Server platform agents on Unix, HP OpenVMS, and Windows Servers requires a specific license, please check the License section for more information.

Microsoft Windows, UNIX Server Support for Agentless Servers

Requires one ordinary platform agent per basic OS type of agentless server. You need one Microsoft Windows agent in the same trust domain to run Microsoft Windows agentless OS jobs on any amount of servers, and/or one UNIX platform agent to run any UNIX agentless OS job on any amount of servers. UNIX types need not be the same.

SNMP Support
