Creating Export Rule Sets

Most objects can be exported as CAR files from within the user interface, they can then be imported with the process definition System_Import_Archive or from the command line. To customize your imports and exports, you can specify rule sets. Import and export rule sets allow you to organize the flow of processes between Development, Quality Assurance and Production systems.

tip

Check the Preview tab, which will list all objects that match your rule set.

Export List

On the Export List tab, you can select the objects to export according to a query on an object type or according to the Last Modification Time of the object. When you specify an object type, you can select a filter or fill an IntelliSearch expression into the matching field. Note that some objects do not support When you specify a modification time, you can also specify the user who made the modification to narrow-down the list.

Procedure

Creating an Export Rule Set

  1. Navigate to "Promotion > Export Rule Sets".
  2. Choose New Export Rule from the context-menu.
  3. Fill in the details and choose the Export Rules tab.
  4. Locate and add other objects on the Export List tab.
  5. Inspect the results on the Preview tab, if necessary, perform the previous steps again to adapt the rule or list. Proceed when you are satisfied.
  6. Choose Add to create a new import rule and fill in the details.
  7. Choose Save & Close.

Using an Export Rule Set

  1. Navigate to "Promotion > Exports".
  2. Choose Export from the context-menu.
  3. Fill in the details and specify an export rule set.
  4. Choose Save & Close.

Example

Creating an Export Rule Set to export all chain definitions and process definitions from the Example application.

  1. Navigate to "Promotion > Export Rule Sets".
  2. Choose New Export Rule Set from the context-menu.
  3. Enter Export_Example_JobDefs into the Name field.
  4. On the Export Rules tab, choose Add and fill JobDef into the Name and field, enter JobDef into the Matches Object Type field and select JobDefinition;.
  5. In the Available conditions field below, select Where the JobDefinition belongs to Application on the Include tab and choose Application in the Selection field below.
  6. In the new dialog, fill Example into the Where the JobChain belongs to Application field, choose Add, then Ok.
  7. Repeat the above steps for chains, replacing JobDef and JobDefinition with JobCh and JobChain, respectively.
  8. Choose Save & Close.

Creating an Export Rule Set based on a static list of all chains and process definitions currently members of the Example application.

  1. Navigate to "Promotion > Export Rule Sets".
  2. Choose New Export Rule Set from the context-menu.
  3. Enter Export_Example_JobDefs into the Name field.
  4. On the Export List tab, enter JobC into the Where the object of type field, optionally use an existing object filter or specify part of the name in the search query box to reduce the amount of hits.
  5. From the list, select the items that are in the Example application and choose Export Selected. You can use an existing or create a new object filter which matches criteria and use it here if you do not know which objects match.
  6. Choose Save & Close.
